Earlier this evening, in the neighbouring constituency of St Austell and Newquay, British National Party party representative James Fitton and his supporters were escorted away from The Keay public debate by the police.
Not invited by organisers, PCS (Public and Commercial Services Union) because of their extreme right wing political policies, Mr Fitton made good on his promise to crash the debate. Taking a seat amongst the audience, vocally proclaiming himself as “just another member of the public”, Mr Fitton ignored warnings from the event chair to leave before the authorities arrived.
The candidates waited in the foyer as neither side was willing to budge, but after fifteen minutes the stalemate was broken as the police arrived and requested Mr Fitton leave. After some objection, he left the room but continued arguing with officers, claiming he had been called a “fascist”.
Although mostly popular amongst the people in attendance, none of whom expressed support for BNP policy, there was some discussion as to whether his democratic right to free speech was being infringed. Local resident, Michael Elkington, chose to leave the debate following the exchange between Mr Fitton and police.
He said of this action, “I do not in any way support the BNP. But part of what makes this country great is the right to free expression, and by denying them a platform they garner support, publicity and possibly even credibility. By giving them a chance to discuss their ideas in the open, it is easier to see how ridiculous they really are.
This was the final public debate for the candidates, and was completed without further controversy. The seat, a marginal which has been clearly targeted by both Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, is likely to be closely contested.

Watching the Campaign Show on BBC News this evening the British National Party (BNP) Leader Nick Griffin showed two things, a. that a BNP Government would open the door to all forms of discrimination and b. he doesn’t have a clue really about how British Society works.
Under A BNP Government anyone and everyone could choose to discriminate in absolutely anyway they like, so here are a few ways your employer, your pub landlord or anyone could discriminate:
1. An employer could sack you because you are: Black, White, Asian, Gay, Female, Male etc etc.
2. A pub landlord who doesn’t like Blacks, Asians, Australians etc could just ban all of them
3. An employer could choose not to employ anyone they like, just because
4. If you are disabled forget having access to services, because under the BNP any business could discriminate against disabled people and NOT offer disabled access, parking etc, just because they feel like it.
The list would be endless as according to the BNP leader the BNP would get rid of all discrimination laws, so now let me show you just how Nick Griffin doesn’t have a clue about his own party policy.
The BNP repatriation policy isn’t open to all people, it is available to non-whites, so therefore the BNP are discriminating against white people, yet they claim there would be no discrimination in Britain under the BNP, so I think the BNP Leader has displayed yet another big fail this evening.
He also said that Australians could continue to come to the country for “extended holidays” and take jobs whilst they are here, so the BNP actually doesn’t have a closed Britain policy on immigration, because Australians are white they are ok. But if a black person came on a backpacking holiday I have no doubt they wouldn’t have the same ability to come for a holiday.
If we look at the overstay figures from the ONS it is Australians who come on extended holidays that overstay their visas more than any other group of “holiday makers”. Nick Griffin once again made it 100% clear that the BNP immigration policy is clearly targeted at non-white people, and that should people vote BNP on May 6th they are clearly voting for a country that will allow anyone and everyone to openly discriminate knowing there is nothing that can stop them.
So under the BNP would I then be able to refuse to have a black postman deliver my post? (not that I would) but surely this ability to discriminate extends to who I want knocking my door? so the Post office would have to then send a white postman to deliver my mail, thus costing more money, if enough people decided to do that the cost of postage would go up to cover all that extra cost.
This is also a nice opener to segregation, how long would it be before we saw whites only pubs etc. Electing the BNP would clearly send our country back 100 years, if you want to risk your vote based on Nick Griffins own words then frankly you need to take a serious look at yourself.
Then we can look at the BNP policy on housing, they claim that they will change the system so that people who have lived in an area longer, have family connections, are white will be at the top of the housing list, yet from what Nick Griffin said tonight he would be making illegal policy undre his own Government rules of having NO discrimination policies what so ever.
See just how Nick Griffin really doesn’t have a clue, he seemed to be clearly making up policy on the hoof, without understanding the impact those new policies would have on his own party policies as detailed in the BNP manifesto.
The only thing Nick Griffin proved this evening is that the BNP don’t have the first clue on how to run a country, he doesn’t even understand his own party policy. But the single biggest thing Nick Griffin proved tonight is that the no platform angle taken by many people is the wrong way to go.
He wasn’t even put under any serious pressure on the Campaign Show yet he broke and proved he didn’t understand his own policy, made up new policy on the hoof and by doing so blew his own party policy right out of the water.

With so many names coming out of the woodwork about this years British National Party (BNP) candidates for both local and MP seats I thought it would be a far easier exercise to keep a running list, so here goes with the ones that are currently known to have criminal convictions:
Nick Griffin (candidate for Barking) convicted for incitement to racial hatred
Jason Mundy (candidate for Upper Stoke Ward, Coventry) convicted on March 8th 2010 for harassment
Edward John Sheppard (candidate for North West Coventry) convicted for wounding and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life
David Clarke (candidate for Croydon) convicted for assault on April 28th
Ian Meller (candidate for NW Leicester) convicted in 2002 for carrying an offensive weapon with intent, at a gay rights march in Leicester
David Enderby (candidate for Winyates ward, Redditch) Found guilty of three counts of assaulting members of his estranged wife’s family.
Kevin Scott (candidate for Gateshead) Convictions for assault and using threatening words and behaviour.
So far I have the above confirmed details, of course I will be looking at other candidates for the British National Party in this years elections and adding to this list to keep you all aware of just who you are really voting for if you are thinking of putting your x next to the BNP on May 6th.

The BNP candidate for Upper Stoke Ward in Coventry, Jason Mundy was recently convicted of harassment by Coventry Magistrates on 8th March 2010.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and received a 12 month community order in addition to a 2 year restraining order.
Jason Mundy has a string of offenses and Coventry Against Racism is aware of more shocking details about this case that we are not allowed to reveal for legal reasons.
Given that Edward John Sheppard, the BNP candidate for North West Coventry has a conviction for wounding and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, we find it horrific that these are the kind of candidates that the BNP put forward.
Added to this of course the other BNP candidate for Croydon who was convicted of assault just this week, it seems the BNP candidate list for the 2010 General Election is full of criminals with recent convictions, do you really want to elect these people?

POLICE are on standby in the run-up to an election debate in St Austell tonight after British National Party supporters threatened the organisers of the husting because their candidate was not invited to attend.
Five would-be MPs will be attending an election husting at the Keay Theatre in St Austell tonight – the BNP candidate for the St Austell and Newquay seat, James Fitton, was not invited as his party is considered “too far to the right” for the organisers.
Mr Fitton was also not asked to take part in the BBC Town Hall debate which was aired live this week, and is still available to watch on BBC Iplayer.
The debate has been organised by Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) along with the Cornwall Trade Union Alliance to cater for those who work in front line services it will start at 6.30pm tonight.
Jessica Pearce, the PCS regional secretary, phoned the Cornish Guardian to tell the paper they had received “threatening” phone calls from BNP supporters.
“They phoned and got through to our 22-year-old receptionist and were very aggressive.
“They said that even though we had not invited them they would be attending and there was nothing we could do about it.
“We have phoned the police and they did say they would be present.
“I don’t know why they are acting like this, a lot of our members are part of the civil service and the public sector are not interested in the BNPs far right views.
“It would slow down the debate.”
Inspector for St Austell Police, Stuart Gibbons, said they were aware of it and were on standby should any disruption occur.
James Fitton said: “The PCS are fools. They called me and said I was a facist which is why I wasn’t allowed on tonight.
“I then said ‘surely by denying me attending tonight you’re a fascist’ and they hung the phone up on me.
“I’m still going to go. I was told by the PCS that I’d be arrested if I attended, but I can’t see how or why I would be and it’s not going to stop me.”
The candidates who have been invited to the debate include Labour’s Lee Jameson, Liberal Democrat’s Stephen Gilbert, the Conservative candidate Caroline Righton and Mebyon Kernow’s leader Dick Cole.
So the British National Party will just be running up more tax payer bills to police another event, even though I personally disagree with the no platform method of dealing with the BNP, I still think if they are not invited for whatever reasons they should not go out of their way to run up policing bills at the tax payers expense by making such threats.
