Last night I received an interesting email from a Liverpool resident who provided me with some interesting information that gives good evidence of a direct link between British National Party (BNP) Liverpool secretary Karren Otty, (who is also expected to be announced as a candidate for the local council in Anfield), and the English Defence League (EDL).
The English Defence League (EDL) is apparently a proscribed organisation by the BNP, meaning BNP officials should NOT be associated with the EDL, however it seems Karren Otty has other ideas.
Karren Otty, pictured below with BNP GLA Member Richard Barnbrook (who you’ll probably remember was suspended from the GLA for making up a few murders) is described by Merseyside and Liverpool BNP as:
female activist warrior Queen Karen Otty on the left hand side, what a BNP activist this lady is!

Below is Karen Otty entering court with Liverpool BNP’s Peter Tierney and Peter Squire on March 17th this year.

Below Karen Otty (arrowed) at the EDL’s House of Lords demonstration in support of Geert Wilders, 5/3/10

So it certainly seems that Karen Otty is breaking the British National Party (BNP) rules by attending the EDL Rally at Westminster, what follows below is a copy of the email I received with certain parts removed that are subject to UK Data Protection and Privacy Laws:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I write as a concerned voter regarding the conduct of Merseyside BNP’s Secretary, Karen Otty, who lives at REDACTED DUE TO PRIVACY LAWS. While seemingly a loyal party activist (see her Tweets on: REDACTED DUE TO PRIVACY LAWS) it would appear that she actually has a very different political agenda from that of the branch and party leadership. Her Facebook page (REDACTED DUE TO PRIVACY LAWS) is full of pro-BNP news stories, but a click on the ‘Older Posts’ link reveals her to be a member of the English Defence League (see link: REDACTED DUE TO PRIVACY LAWS).
The EDL is a proscribed organisation as far as the BNP is concerned, and dual membership is prohibited.
The Facebook page of the group which Karen Otty has joined says of the BNP that: “While we are anti UAF and call for the arrest of Weymann Bennett for inciting hatred, we are equally opposed to the BNP racists as well and believe no political party should use violence racism or religion as political tools.”
It goes on to state that: “The English defence league are a non political organisation that has been formed by the English patriotic lads of this country to protest against Sharia Law and Islamic Extremists gaining a foothold in this country. The UAF are an organisation supported by the current political parties to try to stem all opposition. While this group has no time for the BNP and will not allow racism on these pages, we feel the UAF are more of a threat and they should be disbanded to protect our police force from constant attacks.”
Further evidence of Otty’s affiliations come from the picture below (moved to above), showing her at the EDL demonstration in support of the Dutch anti-Islamist, Geert Wilders, outside the House of Lords on March 5th this year.
I have heard that Otty will stand as the BNP candidate in Anfield in the forthcoming council elections and that her candidacy is due to be announced in the next few days. It could be the case that the BNP will be damaged in Liverpool if Otty’s links with the violent and extremist EDL and her flouting of party discipline should continue to be ignored by the BNP and come to the attention of the local media.
With such a direct link between a potential BNP councillor and leading figure in Merseyside and Liverpool BNP and the proscribed EDL can the British National Party still continue to claim that it’s membership and officials are not affiliated with the EDL?
As voters can you really risk voting for a party that doesn’t seem to be able to enforce it’s own rules amongst it senior members.
